LEARN TO PLAY THE PIANO

with Pamela Rose

Learning to play the Piano is life enhancing.

From increasing your child’s IQ to warding off Alzheimers, not forgetting introducing something beautiful and creative to your life - the piano is pretty spectacular!

Students of all ages and standards learn with me. My teaching integrates the learning of music practically, aurally and visually from the first lessons. Learning in this way enables students to become independent musicians and to have a lifelong enjoyment of music.

Experienced as an ABRSM Theory Examiner, I also have a special focus on Grade 5 Theory and enabling a deeper understanding of what we hear and play. So whether you, or your child, would like to start, or pick up from intermediate or advanced levels, please get in touch.

Lessons are held at my studio in South West London.
Online lessons for piano or theory are also available.

FAQ

  • Yes, you will. Either a piano or a keyboard will be good. If it’s a keyboard, a full size one is best with 7 octaves or 52 white notes.

  • If your child knows the first 7 letters of the English Alphabet and has a basic understanding of maths insofar as 1 is half of 2, then they are ready to start piano lessons. On average, this will around the age of 6 years.

  • It’s important to play every day, even if for a short while. Try to focus on what we are learning in the lessons as well :)

  • At the moment, my oldest student is 74. There is no cut off age, so if you would like to learn then you are definitely not too old. My lessons will be tailor made to suit you.

  • The lessons are structured in numerical order so you build up your knowledge step by step. The best way is to go through each video as many times as you like and make sure you’re completely secure with what you’ve learned in each lesson before going on to the next.

  • These lessons are for all instrumentalists, vocalists and anyone wanting to understand music. The piano’s pattern of black and white keys show most clearly how music is laid out, making it the best way to enable musical understanding.

  • As these sessions are going in at the grade 5 level, you’ll need some musical knowledge. Please watch out for video blogs and further updates for other levels.
